The vision and goal of CPUSL is:

• To bring together the Sri Lankan diasporas in the UK on a common platform recognising that there can be unity in diversity by extricating from divisive issues be it political, cultural, ethnic or religious

• To spread the message of unity in order to build trust and confidence among the different groups that comprise the Sri Lankan diasporas in the UK

• To condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations

• To promote a peaceful negotiated settlement to the conflict in the north and east of Sri Lanka.

• To provide a forum to exchange views on aspects relating to resolving the grievances in relation to all communities, findings of which to be transmitted to the All Party mechanism in Sri Lanka.

What is CPUSL ?

It is a non-political organisation of Sri Lankan Associations, Groups and dedicated individuals from all communities in the UK striving to achieve the goals set out overleaf. We have no office bearers, no bank accounts, we are an organisation that is truly different.
 

What do we do ?
CPUSL was established in July 2006. Since then we have organised:

• A Parliamentary Seminar in May 2007 with the participation of UK MPs, MEPs and Sri Lankans.

• Regular interactions with UK MPs and Government officials on the situation in Sri Lanka

• Special annual celebrations for Vesak, Deevali, Eid, Christmas and World Peace Day that recognise our unity in diversity.

• Film shows, discussions that help create understanding among communities.

• Public demonstrations on issues of concern to all Sri Lankans.

• Provide non-political perspectives on Sri Lanka through our website.

Why should you join us ?
We are action oriented. There are too many arm chair critics but very few among us who are prepared to devote time for unpublicised action that will help bring the Sri Lankan community together. Our polarization as a community has been exploited by extremists to advance their separatist agenda. So it is imperative we unite with no personal agenda.
